I have an 83 in 454 and I love it, but it's not without shortcomings. I could have saved almost $2k and just bought a Ruger.
1. The chamber is so tight some factory ammo and reloads won't fit in the cylinder.
2. You cannot safely carry 5 shots afield because of the lack of transfer bar. So you have a 4 shot.
3. The tolerances are so tight on this pistol is doesn't take much to lock it up. Dirt, sand, lead etc.
4. You can't shoot .45 colts out of it like you can on the Ruger
5. COST!!! you can get a Ruger and save $2 grand and have SIX SHOTS!!!
6. It's a safe queen, let's be honest are we really dragging these things around in ak, I bet most arent.
7. It's a single action and is slower then a SRH. I love single actions but not for this use.
8. Replacement cylinders are available, but they cost $500 and you have to send the pistol in and wait.
9. They got sued because some a-hole blew his leg off.
10. I'm afraid to scratch it.

SO did you buy it to be a safe queen investment? I shot one when they first came out and didn't care for the grip. The darn thing felt like it was going to spin roght out of my hand. I do have a SRH I picked up a few years ago here in AZ froma guy who bought it from some LE who used to live in AK.
It is a pleasure to shoot and I like it almost as the SRH I bought back in about 2005 in 480 that I never should have sold but we all haad few of those.

I'm not necessarily a fan of them either, but some of your criticisms are undeserved:
1. The chamber is so tight some factory ammo and reloads won't fit in the cylinder.
If commercial loads are manufactured out of spec, should you trust the quality/consistency of the powder charge and remainder of the components? Perhaps not!

4. You can't shoot .45 colts out of it like you can on the Ruger
Sure you can. Just clean it properly before changing to .454 Casull loads. The same is required of a Ruger; you can cause an over-pressure event in a Ruger the same as you can in a FA.

8. Replacement cylinders are available, but they cost $500 and you have to send the pistol in and wait.
Same is true of a Ruger, at least as far as sending it in. The addition of a second cylinder requires fitting and timing. Sure, you can find a second cylinder on Fleabay, and it might even drop in and fit sloppily enough to be more or less functionally timed...but that's the exception rather than the rule and most of the time you'll at least need to adjust the timing.

9. They got sued because some a-hole blew his leg off.
I haven't followed their history, so will take your word for it. But Ruger was sued, too, which is the reason they all have transfer bars now.

One more complaint:

11. After you load it you have to make sure the cylinder is indexed with the cylinder latched fully or when you draw it you will have a big surprise! It won't revolve or ****!!! Not a good thing in bear country.
I'm not saying it's a bad gun, I actually like it and hunt with it alot. It just has a few shortcomings imo

I don’t mean to sound snide but I feel like you are trolling with your complaints as well as stating it is a safe queen, but that you hunt with it a lot. I have shot revolvers for many years, and never have I carried one without checking function after closing the cylinder. To me it is like doing a press check on a semi-auto- it becomes habit. Like I said, I don’t mean to sound snide.

Trolling was not my intent at all, I'm just trying to be real about these revolvers. They are a fine piece of machinery and I admire it and the manufacturer. I'm just pointing out a few things. If your going to drop close to $3,000 on the finest revolver money can buy you should know those tight tolerances do come with limitations.
So here are the positives:
1. It's the most accurate revolver I have ever fired!
2. It's beautiful, fit and finish is awesome. 3. The recoil is very nice with the bisley grip frame, it does roll in your hand which some like.
4. The action is smooth, trigger nice 3.

That's another positive! They keep going up in value.
John Candy Carried a .50 cal model 83 scoped, in the movie ARMED AND DANGEROUS. he said it was only legal in two states haha. It was pretty funny, I recently saw the movie and realized it was a freedom arms.

Ok,,,,, thanks for the comment, but I'm kind of a stickler when it comes to "Proper-Nomenclature", ie.... it's not actually a Pistol, per-say,,,,, it's a Revolver or Wheel-Gun,,,,,, :shades:
ATF defines a Pistol as a Handgun that does not contain it's Ammo in a Revolving-Cylinder, so a Pistol,,,,, is, for the most part, a Semi-Auto.

It's regrettable that the ATF is unable to enforce correct use of the English language. Pistol or revolver, clip or magazine, bullet or cartridge...the Second Amendment doesn't require anyone to know the difference. And the First Amendment doesn't require anyone to demonstrate literacy. Tho we may find the spewing of gibberish in the town square unacceptable, it's for the most part completely legal. Thus, any obtuse wingnut might be allowed to wave a revolver around and call it a pistol. Tangentially, it might be pointed out that wings of a wingnut are always obtuse, while a wingnut might be obtuse or simply illiterate; context matters, so sometimes it's not simple. But neither is it rocket science...unless we wish to discuss ballistics. And if we were to discuss ballistics it would inevitably bring us around to the heart of this thread, which is that revolvers don't suck, they blow; gravity sucks. Everybody knows that! :shades:

Overall I'm happy I own the "REVOLVER" it is made well and I enjoy shooting it. My intent wasn't to troll or to use the wrong grammar, I don't wish to beat up freedom arms, this was just my opinion of it after owning and shooting it for many years along side a SRH. Some people really get offended when you say negative things about their guns. ESPECIALLY the Glock 20 crowd. They take it personal, " my gun NEVER jams" etc etc I'm honest and real about stuff even if it runs me or someone else the wrong way.

Wait, you're going to title your post about what sucks related to this manufacturer, LIST your complaints in numeric order, and then pull the BS card of "not intending to troll"? :loveit: That's just so righteous! Can't wait to read your next post...
