I am planning to go camping/fishing on Fox Island out of Seward this Summer. I plan to take the water taxi from Millers Landing and stay 2 or 3 days at a time. I want to fish from shore in multiple locations, I will have gear for salmon from shore as well as halibut/rockfish. I want to start with trying the Sandspit point and the Sunny Cove area. I am planning multiple trips. Any info anyone can give that will shorten the learning curve will be much appreciated.

We see campers around Sandspit Point quite frequently, so that location is probably a good starting point. However, without access to some means of transportation (boat, kayak, rubber dinghy, etc), it is unlikely you will be able to move around much as you are hoping to as most of the island's coastline is pretty cliffy.

Although I haven't done it, I suspect you can throw both lures and bait out from the shore without much difficulty. And, with enough persistence, I'm sure you will catch something. Around those locations mentioned, I have caught Silvers, Pinks, and Kings; not to mention halibut, ling cod, rock fish, and grey cod.

If the weather cooperates, no matter what you choose, I'm sure it will be a great time. Otherwise, bring the right gear and mindset and still have a great time! :)

Having some means of getting around and off the shore a little (like a kayak) will drastically increase your success.
