Hello all! Been a long time. Life got busy! The Denali Highway was groomed all winter. The plows began a few days ago from Cantwell and Paxson. They are nearing Brushkana. We expect they’ll be to the lodge (Alpine Creek) in the next few days. Spring grizz hunting is going well, with several harvests and sightings already. We will have our barrels out soon, and we expect bears to be on the barrels by mid May. Fishing has been good in recent years. Don’t expect grayling in the smaller creeks and ponds until late June, with them moving to the bigger lakes and streams by mid August. The highway has been chip sealed in recent years from Paxson (mp0) to MP 71. The West end of the highway is in great shape as they have built it up to get ready to chip seal the rest of it. Ptarmigan numbers were outstanding the last two winters. So be ready for chasing birds August 10th. Looks like no caribou season again this year. Moose numbers are down unless you get way off the road. I wouldn’t be buying a freezer before the hunt. We have our annual highway clean up day on May 25. Anyone is welcome. Two free nights lodging, clean up on Saturday. Potluck meals. Call jennifer to grab a spot! 907-398-9673. We are having our Fourth of July party on July 6th. Burgers, hot dogs, music! We look forward to seeing you guys out here!
