It’s almost that time so I thought I’d put out feelers on this year’s silver return in Valdez. Any news from down that way, good, bad, or otherwise?

A week ago is old news, but news I suppose.
We shore fished and saw no silvers. Pinks were thick. I kayaked a ways off Allison and had a silver, popped off right before I got the net. Heard tourists caught mostly pinks on a charter. A few locals had decent luck about 5 miles out. Did not see many folks at the cleaning tables at the harbor.
Again, a week ago.

Go get em Raff!!

I've heard a few reports of silvers being caught at Allison point, but mostly only 2-3 per tide. Heading down this weekend with the family to hopefully catch a few, will come back with a report.

Tons of them outside the Narrows last week. Of course, there were about 100 commercial boats in cleaning them up....

Tons of silvers in the sound last week, from Robe River all the way out to the entrances. There were literally silvers everywhere. I caught a limit in about an hour, two days in a row. Just finished smoking and canning 50 pounds. Halibut fishing totally sucked though.

Another update. They're in the small boat now harbour too. Some have being caught off the city dock. I woudln't say it's easy fishing, but there are silvers jumping at both locations. Allison still has quite a few pinks cruising the shoreline with some silvers mixed in there .

That’s good news, and very believable. Some of my best shore fishing days have been from the town side, and with fewer nuisance pinks to deal with.

Just yesterday I thought, “I wonder if anybody is fishing the kayak launch”.
