Sure nice to see the silvers come back, been a rough few years. As good as I can remember this time of year.
That is great news! Hopefully a good slug of them will filter into the Kenai as well. My favorite fish to catch these days now that the kings are being protected.Sure nice to see the silvers come back, been a rough few years. As good as I can remember this time of year.
Saw a post today that Seward is fishing very well with bait balls of herring around. And fishing outside the bay in Valdez is catching some nice coho.Any reports of silvers in the bay and size? Not much on charter info lately. Jelly fish like last year ?
I think a few of us reading this are hoping it equates to a good run on the Kenai. It's been almost 5 years since I've caught a silver. So far from what I've read, it might indeed be a decent run on the Kenai as well. I'll be fishing for them tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed.Chased them 2 - 3 weeks ago. Fishing at Pony was a little slow, but Cheval was hot. Best run we've had for at least 4 or 5 years IMO. And yes, they were of decent size.
They'll hit pretty much anything trolled. A week ago in PWS I cleaned up trolling a Tomic plug. And I drifted in 1000' of water in the middle of Valdez Arm while filleting fish and just mooched a tiny spin-n-glow with a few beads and a sliver of herring and they were slamming that, too. No dodger or flasher or anything fancy necessary.Hoping to head out next week. I am deciding between Valdez and Seward. I'll post a report. Any strategy or suggestions, feel free to send them my way.
