I'm curious too, I'll probably make a run up there in a couple weeks. It looks like it's at 15' at Lake Creek according to NOAA.

No kidding! Maybe airboats.

The last time I went during the flooding last September the shortcut at 61°35'48.05"N 150°28'46.59"W, the channel there was almost blocked by trees and bushes that got washed down. Hope it's not still like that later in the season. I sure hope it doesn't flood this season like it did last season. I spent like 20 days up there on the Yentna last August/September and it rained for probably 16 of those days. I think when I went up it was 16' and when I came back it was almost 22', that was a wet trip.

We camped out up the yentna near yentna station and ran up to swkentna and back Monday. Water is definitely up a lot higher than it was memorial day weekend. Lots of crap floating alright. Where we camped there was a big eddie and lots of fish jumpin, we still never tried fishin but will give it a try next weekend. Didn't take a lot of pics but this is across from yentna station looking down.

I'm thinking with the cool weather the water is going to drop again. Already has dropped a foot on the Su below the Yetna.

You guys have that right! Dismal King run on the Alexander with just 40 Kings thru the weir and the water is dropping faster than it rose, 11 inches in the last 24 hrs. Has anyone seen an extended forecast for the summer?

Any updates on the Yentna in the last day or two? I'm looking to make my first trip up there tomorrow. Probably only going to try to get up about 20 miles upriver or so. The gauge at Lake Creek is reading just under 16 feet right now. Is that considered low, average, or high? Any tips on what to look for would be appreciated.

I think 15-16' is about average. Back in September of 2015 it was like 11.5-12' and it was still pretty easy to run, the gravel bars stuck way out though but at least you know the channel that way. Last August when I went up it was at 16' on the 20th... it came up to like 22' a few days later and that was really high.

You can see the historic water levels here. https://www.weather.gov/aprfc/rivobs

Water is still dead low here on the Alexander, I'm sure judging by the almost non existent water in the west channel of the Susitna, the Yetna is low too. Haven't been able to do any freighting yet this summer.

They don't come to Alexander, they run the Yetna. They can't even begin to get into here. Only during high water, then they hire me to show them the channel. I usually run a low draft boat and can't haul more than 3,000 lbs.
