WTH is this? Creature from the deep (Shrimping)

OK, so what the hell is this? After a couple of days acting like 2 monkey's trying to EFF a watermelon (anyone an expert at depth finder transducer installation?!?!?! PM me please!), on one of our pulls we found 4 of these in the pot (and only one shrimp)

Those claws were the hardest I ever had to clean. And terribly unsatisfying as far as hunger goes, after working so hard for so little :lol: Seriously, what the hell is it? Shrimp legs, TINY lobster/shrimp tail and those funky long spindly claws?!?

Otherwise had fun - wish shrimping was more productive, but fun nonetheless.

Galatheid crab, also called a pinchbug or "squat lobster". Tails are tasty if you get enough big ones.

When I was still shrimping commercially, we would occasionally find pockets of those and the pots would come up red...pain in the butt to get out of the gear.

Just some slightly insulated gloves with a rubbery palm for grip - and I love them! I bought a 10 pack of them at B&J's in Anchorage, pretty cheap if I remember right

Yeah, you can find those gloves all over the place. They come in handy.

Ya, those gloves are one of the few that can keep your hands dry and warm most of the time.
The kind that are bright yellow cotton and blue rubber are insulated and the most durable.

But the thin NITRILE coated gloves, tho not warm, are much more tactile, you can tie line, even thin mono or superbraid, with them on, and they really last, palm is very thin black and super flexible, several brands, most building supply stores have them. Sorry, no pic, my kids are too busy to show me how to use the camera
