Who did your lower receiver engraving for an sbr? Finally got approval. I know I know you should have it engraved first but I slacked off. Anybody in town do it?

wow, sorry I missed this. I did Bovey's, and had to JB weld it over and sent it out to Ident Marking to be done right. Then cerakoted to cover. Was not happy to say the least.

That sucks! I never had any trouble with them when I was up there. Did they make it right in the end, tell you to get lost, or do they know you were unhappy?

Oh, I'm pretty sure they knew. Not much they could do to make it right... not like they could put the metal back on. I left before I got any more pissed. On the flip side, I had to have a sticker made to cover the magwell side, as even with super careful layering and sanding of JB Weld, and cerakoting, you could still see the spot. Something with the way the texture was different between the JB and the actual receiver metal. And I'm terribly happy with the sticker I had made for the purpose

(don't mind the big-ass scope...was on for some load testing)

I'll use Ident if needed again... much happier with the engraving under the trigger guard anyways.

Thanks for the info. What exactly did they screw up on?
Believe it was not deep enough for ATF rules, lettering much bigger than asked for, font was much thicker than asked for, not in the exact spot I wanted due to the larger lettering, and it looked piss poor... edges were chipped and not clean (think dremel vs laser engraved). Honestly it looked like the plaque my nephew made for me is shop class with a vibratory engraver that said 'Worlds Best Uncle' (that was an awesome gift tho). I should have taken a photo of it, but honestly I was so pissed I stopped at Freddy's on the way home with the lower and bought the JB weld after I did a quick google search on fixing stuff like this. I had it covered within hours, and then in the mail.

What I got back from Ident was spot on perfect. And there are other places if you google them or search other forums. I also heard a place in Palmer will do it while you wait .. Tri Jet or something like that? Someone on Arfcom I believe said they did good work. But I was told Bovey's did too. Me, if (when) I do another it'll be Ident and BEFORE I submit the paperwork. If it gets lost or damaged I'm not tied to that lower. Mine only took 2 weeks turnaround.

I wanted to shop local, but got bit. Learned my lesson.
