Of course it was raining and somewhat breezy Sunday at Whittier, but I had to give it one last shot this year. Me and a buddy took our 8-ft inflatable dinghys. Figured that if it was crowded (it wasn't...we were the only ones fishing), we could throw them in the water to get away from the crowd. First stop was Smitty's Cove. Hadn't been there in a couple of years. Well, now there's a booth of sorts there and they charge for using the POS ramp there. $10 launch, $10 retrieve, and I think something like $8 for kayaks. Basically, the same charges as the other POS ramps in Whittier. We decided that instead of paying the fee, we'd drive down one more cove. Launched and tried vibrax and mooching with a hoochie and herring. Nothing. Packed up the dinghys and drove to Smitty's to bank fish. Vibrax and herring under a bobber. Nothing.
Wished I'd caught something, but at least now I won't be wondering if I should go to Whittier to see if I can catch something.
