I'm looking for some advice. I have about 140# of wheel weight lead that has been cleaned up, meaning melted, all clips removed and cast into small muffin tin ingots. I was hoping to sell it to someone that makes sinkers or bullets and I'm not sure what the going rate would be? I was hoping $1/lb? I also have 20-30 lbs of assorted cannonball sinkers and the bigger rectangle sinkers as well. Does this seem like a fair price and would anyone be interested in all of it? If so, just shoot me a PM. Thanks.

It is great for sinkers , I don't think a cast bullets person , will touch it, most of those people want pure lead,
wheel weights have additives added to it to make it stiff , good luck ,

That's an extremely fair price, especially given that you've already done the hard work. Straight wheel weight lead is very popular for bullet casting. Somebody will snap it up.

Its good for sinkers but not cast bullets as Sid stated. I also know by experience. Was given some cast 50 cal bullets for my muzzel loader and got one stuck part way down the barrel, Busted my bullet puller trying to get it out and had to resort to going home and welding a wood screw onto a metal rod to get it pulled out.

Great for cast bullets other than muzzle loaders. I've been using the stuff for nearly 60 yrs. The older stuff was harder with more antimony. You can add some pure lead and tin to get it cast better in aluminum molds, but it cast out fine in steel molds. Esp. good for auto loading pistols.

Not so good for sinkers because it corrodes.

I'd pick it up but I have plenty already - I'll let someone have it that needs it more than me.

I originally was planning on using it for casting bullets but never got around to using it. WW lead is pretty popular and some guys even quench their bullets to make them a touch harder. I even talked with a guy that uses them in his muzzle loader but that takes on a whole other set of issues. Thanks for the advice, now I just need someone to unload it all from me!

I’ve been paying 2-3 bucks a pound for cannon balls depending where I am. Metal commodities are up up. If I were there, I’d buy it all.

I'm guessing you are talking flat rate boxes? I can do that. Send me a pm with a number so we can get you leaded up!
I am at work don't get off until 1800 tonight. I'll pay for everything. I can take a call after 7:00 pm. Thank you. Jeanette.
