Just figured I would post up to see what round and grain count everyone is planning on running this year for bear, moose etc.

I have a few boxes of Winchester Supreme elite xp3 150 grain 308 shells I will be hopefully sending down range.

Looks like everyone has their picked their poison.. I am pretty interested on how these new rounds do I put one through a tree earlier today to see what the penetration standpoint looked like and I will say for the round design it impressed me. photo's to follow tomorrow (hopefully)

Really?

Really?

323, that seems awfully light... Like halibut on 5lbs line light, but okay. I hope to use my .338 win mag various grains for various situations and a 325gr Hornady LeveRevolution .45-70 for close range or wooded area hunts. I'm only targeting black bears this spring. Achin' for some burger. Anyone do bear jerky?

I will be using a new Marlin XLR in .338 Marlin Express, and using the Hornady 200 grain factory loads in it. I'm working on getting the stuff to experiment with reloading for it but I'm not there yet. I will be using this when out and about with my brown bear tag in my pocket. Black bears can be found around here, but they are few and far between, at least in the immediate vicinity. I have no qualms with filling a black bear tag if given the opportunity though. I also plan on this rifle being my moose gun this fall.

I like how they fire very clean and accurate only real gripe is the lack of FPS further on out there. but over all I think they will be fine for blackies this year

Heck I don't even know what rifle I am going to take! I could take my 270WSM with 140 accubonds or my 325WSM with 200 grains of the same. Wife will be using her Ruger 308 shooting standard Rem Core Lokt 150's. The deadiliest mushroom in the woods, it's been killing animals longer than I have.

I also might use a 300 weatherby with 125 gr Sierra s.p. but they are keyholing at 100yds but I figure shooting max 50yds from treestand to bait barrel they should be fine on blackbears.
