Anybody have experience floating the West Fork of the Maclaren River in a canoe? Contemplating a moose trip this fall - hoping someone with some experience might be willing to share some pointers. Thanks!
Contact Susie and Alan Echols at Maclaren River Lodge. http://www.maclarenlodge.com/ Alan knows the river like the back of his hand. He runs rafters up and down the river.
Thanks! I've hunted the area before (went in on horseback that time) and I watched guys lining canoes. Was considering bikes/hike in with packs and packrafts, float out. Ambitious, for sure, but if guys are coming out on canoes...
Have been up the main branch of the river a few times . with my old 19 FT both with a motor [ FISHING } an with out a motor it was a piece of cake when I did it , have to get set up for the long walk , coming out different story, not much free board coming out , but the river was real shallow most of the way back to car just float
in fact had to walk it some dragging on the bottom
