With this weather, it is going to be hard to resist planting the outdoor garden before May 31!!! We are in Palmer..

I've already planted onions and garlic, but they are covered with visqueen just in case...

Birch trees are turning green.
Gotta be getting close !
Garden still a muddy mess. The soil boxes are thawed but still frost underground holding the water.
The lake by the house thawed yesterday

I may set may 15th as the day this year.. I'd use visqueen yet the Palmer winds would shortly take that away..

Back in the 90s , I planted May 6th. Everything made it.

Now I did hold some stuff back, but when the soil temp is right, I
put some plants in.

Onions, of course, have been in for over a week already ,
spinach & radish seeds in yesterday.

Even though I've had clear visqueen on my raised beds, (and I've used up a lot of staples trying to keep it in place) the soil doesn't seem to be warming up as quickly as I thought it should. I planted onion starts on the 20th and 21st and some of them are poking up now. If this weather pattern holds I'll probably jump the gun and start planting peas and beans and etc next week.

Give them a go & let us know how it works out.
I'm holding off on the G beans, I save them for last. Very temperature sensitive. I had most of my seeds rot when I tried them early one year & I was covering them at night.
Everything else was OK, just the beans seemed less hardy for the cooler nights.

I'm gonna plant some beets, peas, carrots, & a lettuce patch next week.
I'll save the beans for near the last week of May,
Will plant some brocc as soon as I can get some, my seeds are just sprouting in he pots.

PS: Walmart has "Sweet success" cucs, plants looked good. The type that don't need pollenated, all females.
