Want to try out some Reloader 22 for 3006 180gr

I tried h4350 for 180gr bullets in my 3006, but the accuracy isn't too good except at the lowest powder charges. Great for 165gr, but less than ideal for the 180s. The Nosler charts suggest that Reloader 22 is the most accurate powder tested for 180gr bullets. I would like to get a pound of RL22. I'd pay $30 for a pound or trade a pound of h4350.

RL17 is great for 06 and 180+ bullets at top speeds, 19 and 22 are also very good but I always try 17 first anymore.

I have had great success with RL22 in my .338WM, but in my .06' it is IMR 4831. If my experience with both of those powders and H4831 in the .338WM is any indication, I expect that RL22 would perform similarly in the .06'. Great powder , but I have not seen a single lb on any store shelf, literally, for 3 years.

I've used RE22 in my 30/06 loads and gotten great accuracy with near max loads; however, I did not get very high velocities like the manuals had published. RE17 is awesome and I get great accuracy and velocity with a lower charge, thus more loads per pound. The 30/06 case, IMOP, doesn't quite have the capacity to maximize the burn rate of RE22, just my experience. Also, RE22 is a bit temperature sensitive, with velocities really falling off at below freezing temps. RE17 has been pretty stable at consistant at temps from 10 to 50, for me.

My pet load for my Kimber 06 is 62 gr RL22 with a Barnes TTSX 180 at 2750 Fps. Shoots great for me, but unfortunately I only have 1/4 lb left, and haven't seen any in years either.

About six months ago Boondocks had some 22 (like 4lbs) and like a fool I didn't get any.

Fortunately I have near 4lbs of H4831SC (and 3lbs IMR4831) that I have been sitting on since I tried RL22, now that my RL22 is near depleted it looks like I will fall back on H4831. I am awful happy I have it to go back to!

Sounds like it might be near impossible to find some RL22 and that RL17 might be a great alternative. If anyone would like to sell me a pound, I'd like to try it out.

I use RL22 when loading for my 7mm Rem Ultra Mag. Very, very good powder for this rifle but I haven't had a need to try it in any other application. Good luck finding a pound or two, hopefully things will improve soon!

I bought some RL22 from SWH, May of 2013, for $24.99 a pound. Today I bought another # at BiMart for $27.97, their last # from today's shipment. I may have just missed all the times either place had any during that year. BiMart usually undersells SWH by a couple of $ a #.
