I have been using the same cheap vise I bought from Cabelas 20 years ago.
I recently upgraded to a Renzetti Traveler and find it is quite a nice vise.
I was surprised last night when I popped a 5/0 saltwater gammi into the jaws at how well they hold. I didn't think they would hold that big of a hook and certainly didn't think they would hold as tight as they do.
I don't have any cons yet, but will update if something comes up.

So what are you guys using and what do you like & dislike about your vise.

I have a Dyna King, it works pretty good, real smooth. The only thing I haven't done or use rather is spinning the hook, I just wrap the thread with the bobbin and hand.

I use a Griffith Patriot Cam vise. Its a $160 rotating vise and it works well for me. Also its not too expensive.

I recently upgraded from a Dyna King Kingfisher, to a Nor-Vise -
The Dyna King Kingfisher was a GREAT little vise, especially given the low price. Held everything I threw at it securely and adjustments were smooth and easy. It also gave a nice 'Click' when locking down the jaws that I loved...
Then along come my introduction to the Nor-Vise and I've never looked back... The Nor-Vise is THE way to go for any serious tier, in my opinion. I love everything about it... The only thing that took some getting used to was the fact that the jaws are straight, so you have to adjust your tying style slightly when tying smaller flies as you can't get your hand down as low as you can with angled jaws... I don't consider this to be a con, it was just different than I was used to. They also sell an an angled jaw conversion kit for the vise if it anyone really doesn't like it... That, compared with everything else that it does so well, and I have absolutely no complaints - it holds everything ultra securely, is the easiest vise to adjust hook size that I've ever seen, and the concept of spinning the hook along its axis is a true innovation that is not only more efficient (not that I care about that much, I'll take 30 minutes to tie a Woolly Bugger if that's what it takes to make a good looking fly) and allows you to do some really cool things, but is also a hell of a lot of fun!

My primary vise is a Renzetti Traveler with a few customizations. I have an oversized knurled bolt for quick jaw adjustment, and modified O-rings for tighter pre-clamp grip of materials. I have also modified the teflon bearings in the vise stock, providing for much smoother rotary motion.

I also use a Griffin Superior as a 2nd vise when tying string flies, and I have a custom hook-spring tensioner setup that I use for smaller stuff.

For tubes, I have a Renzetti tube vise. Pretty spiffy for tying larger tubes, but lately I have become enamored with HMH microtube, and small chunks at that...much easier to tie on a ProTube needle mounted in a regular-jawed vise.

I suspect that, like all "what is your favorite ________ ?" threads, there will be a bunch of folks with a wide range of experiences concerning similar products...I have a buddy that absolutely HATES Renzetti vises, says they are loads of poo...meanwhile, I have had mine for 10+ years and tied probably 50,000+ flies with it.

Oh I have lots of Vises No seriously I have a Regal with rotating head, Renzetti one of the orginals I am old, I have a nice Dyna-King with some attachments to make flies faster not better, I have several Griffins to inlcude the Mongoose I know what a neat name, I also have several Thompson A Vises from back in the day when I use to give bad instructions to new people to the sport. Funny thing they all hold a hook! A person can't have to many vises can they? Heck just the other day my lovely wife was mentioning how she hated most of my vises!!!!! Hmmmmm! Wonder what brought that on? Hey Fred pass me another beer eh! I love these tying get togethers..

I like using the Dyna-King now for the most part and I would not trade the Renzetti for anything old habits die hard.

Nor-vise! Pros?- everything about it. Cons?- Can't think of any.

I picked up a Dan Vise but really haven't had a chance to use it yet.
The quality seems to be good & I like the design. The price is also right.
What little tying I did in the past was on the $15.95 specials.

I have a nor-vise too that I started on, but I really think my tying would have benefitted form using a regular vise first. I'm still learning though.

I have had a Dan Vise for about a year now and have tied a few hundred flies with it on hooks ranging from 18 to 4/0 without any problems. It definitely holds hooks well and is easy to adjust. It's nice to have a rotating vise, but it is even nicer to have something that holds hooks tight every time after tying on bad vises to start out.

I use the renzetti traveler as well. I really like it, it's smooth, the pedestal is perfectly weighted, and it has plenty of accessories to add on. I am going to purchase the tube attachment sometime this year. I have been using a universal tube attachment and I want to upgrade. I also use a Griffith clamp vise for tying articulated flies
