Is it possible to catch chickens within 10 miles of the Valdez port? Not interested in big ones...just a couple chickens to fill up the freezer.
Any help would be appreciated!

Last year a friend took me out of the Valdez port and we headed out to Hitchenbrook Island area. This is quite a bit further than 10 miles, so not a great response, but it is the only place I have been out of Valdez. My friend said he didn't know if we would get into any fish and if we didn't, he would be glad to move us elsewhere. We dropped lines around 10:30 a.m., and had a fish on pretty much non-stop until about 2:30 in the afternoon. There were 3 of us fishing the whole time, and one more fished occasionally. In all, we landed and released about 60+ halibut. Good luck.
