Tips for fishing jim creek

I have a friend from out of town visiting and we are looking at heading up to Jim Creek over the weekend. Since I have only been in the state a few months, I 'm in need of some advice on how to fish this area. What would you all recommend for gear? Vibrex, Flies, Eggs or any other gear? Thanks for any help you all can give.

Just wade out where everyone else is and check out what's working (this will only take a moment as the fishing is pretty good right now) Then step in and hook a lunker.
it helps to have a fairly stiff pole to set the hook with and maybee a shimano 4000 or the like for a reel.
Pink Vibrax was working for everyone last night.
Don't be afraid to really set the hook hard they have tough mouths.

Was it you and your buddy I was fishing next to this morning? He was in the military from Hawaii? First time to Alaska and silver fishing with the glacier in the background. Hard to beat for his first day here.

He asked me how to catch the fish and I said just keep doing what he was doing. He caught his limit before you and I did. I thought it was great!

nope, I was up at the top of the fisrt section of fisherpersons (where the majority of the people were)
There was a nice looking young lady with a red ball cap on standing next to me. I was driving the Red 98 GMC with the loud pipes.
Best silver fishing i've ever done. Havn't really done that much, but it was fun.

That was us! Looks like my friend picked out the perfect vibrex for the day huh!!! Definately great fun and a experience we will definately not forget for a long time.

I was in the general area last night. We SLAYED the fish. We werent fishing Jim Creek or its mouth but we were within a couple of minutes. All night we only saw one other group of kids which most took their limit.

I used green yarn and switched to eggs when flipping line became boring.

A Friend And I Couldn't Resist, We Left Late--i Got Off After 8:00 In Anchorage. Limited Pretty Quick, First Was A Nice Buck On The 2nd Cast. Two Of Us Had Decided To Take Only One 4-wheeler, Man Those Things Are Not Designed To Have Someone On The Back, The Weight Is Distributed Poorly. Almost Dumped The King Quad Over Several Times And Then Coming Back We Half-rolled It In The Water Coming Out Of The Creek,killed The Engine And The Transmission Slipped All The Way Back--gotta Check That Out. Good Times...

Friday night was my first time ever there. Man what a ride back there. I thought the creek was small enough to cast across. I was wrong. Saw allot of people catching silvers.

Take the old glen highway, turn right at the dragstrip, take the first right past the dragstrip, follow the trail to the river, once close to the river you will need to go to the left a little ways. You will see people. Hope you have a truck, it can be a little rough.

Went out there today to search for it. It is actually the second right turn after the drag strip. Very easy to find when you turn down the right road. Lots of people fishing and lots of fish being caught.

hey yeh dood i live right beside there so i go fishing there anytime i have a chance to so what i would do is use pink pixies and orange pixies and then use a pink vibrax size 4 and in the dark use a black colored vibrax trust me those will deinentley work, in one day with the tide i caught 7 silvers so man se yeh on the river!!!!

jim creek is located in the butte right by a drag racing place just ask anyone around the butte and anyone can tell u
