When I called the hotline today ( updated July 17th ) I interpreted that the Tier guys get to hunt cow or bull the first day on August 10th...the next day on the 11th it will be changed by EO to bull only. All draw permits will be one bull starting on the 20th...if anyone heard it different, please chime in! I guess F&G figures that every Joe Hunter has access to phone service, and should call the hotline before they head out. If it gets closed while you're out there, and there's no cell service where you are...???
It's the department's responsibility to put the information out there where people can get it, it's the hunter's responsibility to do what they need to do to abide by it. Maybe that means taking a sat phone with you so you can check in if you are in a window of time that the season might get closed down. The need to check for EO's isn't new and is pretty obviously stated in the regulations and in the permit supplement, so people should know what type of conditions they are accepting by participating in the hunt. I know where I hunt there is no cell phone service. What that tells me is that I either have to make day trips to hunt so I can call in from where I do have cell service or have some form of communications available to me that can get me access to the information (sat phone in my case). That is a choice I make by choosing to put in for the permit and by choosing where and how to hunt. Just because some regulation may be inconvenient to me doesn't mean I get a pass on following it.
