Doesn't surprise me, but I hadn't heard it for certain yet. The hotline hasn't been updated since the 23rd, did you happen to get numbers while you were asking about the hunt? It was looking like they weren't quite going to hit the 2500 mark.

The guy said there were about 200 bulls left on the quota and they were not comfortable re opening with so few left. I was hoping for a 1 day opener at least. Oh well.

Yes, it was banner year for us and we are eating VERY WELL. My moose season lasted a grand total of 16 hours and 15 minutes with a small bull opening day that I split with my hunting partner. And we shared this guy with my brother and his family since they didn't catch anything. I love to hunt, and really love to eat wild game and sharing our catch when successful is a big part of the harvest.

From the other posts above, it sounds like they are not going to re-open the season again. Nothing official out yet, but makes sense.

Nelchina caribou hunt is closed and will not reopen in October. You are asked to send in your hunt report as soon as possible, regardless if you hunted or not. Failure to report will put you on the 'failure to report list' and you will become ineligible for next years draw hunts.

There's nothing I hate worse than a sidetracked thread. Gentlemen, please remember that most of Unit 13 is yeti country. These creatures do not hibernate and will eat you as quickly in winter as any other time.

Looks like a dandy, good on top, good on bottom, hopefully he's still there in a couple weeks. So I take it they are coming down out of the high country?

Nothin I hate more either bud. I talked to ADF&G and they said if you have an un-filled bou tag, you can bring it in (in person) and they'll exchange for an "any Yeti" tag, no questions asked.

And no doubt it would be a way more challenging hunt...those Yeti's are Maneaters for sure!

Yep. Two side arms and a fifty cal are the minimums if you want to hunt Yeti. Finding a taxidermist to mount one is an even bigger challenge...

Make sure you bring a couple back up shooters, and plenty of ammo, in case you are confronted by a small herd of Yeti.
