Target Awareness

Just a reminder for folks to be sure of their targets and aware of their surroundings. I found a swan that had been shot earlier this week at a fairly popular hunting and recreational area. Make sure you know what you are shooting at and what could be hit by the remainder of your pattern.

I found the same thing this morning. We come in to set up decoys, and there was a swan laying on the pond.

Same crap happened where I hunt. It was a week ago and I heard it through the grapevine who did it. Worth reporting?

i haven't noticed any that were shot where i have been hunting the past few days but If i ever witnessed someone shooting a trumpeter i would immediately get out of my blind and face the no good....and make a citizens arrest and if he wanted to try something different than just staying put, I would do whatever it took to aprehend the no good and if it meant self defense, then I WIN. i was thinking about that today as i was hunting, if someone was to do such a thing. Gosh i love watching them flyin around and listening to them before they take off for their migration. Especially when the bank and all their white shows up against a mountain backdrop.

If we ever should witness someone shooting a swan we must call it in right away and then go for it. aprehend the no good and if it comes to a means of self defense, the YOU MUST WIN. Homeland Security even for our Majestic Swans. End of story.

once again i leave out the letter n. not once but twice. as i drove past some shooters on the way to the blind about 2 hrs later a couple guys pull up. i heard one call to the other with the words "hey" then they left. maybe i was just in the spot they were hoping for or maybe they came to pop one. i don't know but my thoughts were on those swans believe it or not and i was ready.

This is kind of late, but I wanted to throw a comment in. The heresay information would be worth reporting for sure, you never know what the Troopers may be working with or what other information they may have. Another tip pointing to someone who they may already be looking at helps make decisions that much easier.
