Advantages? To each his own I guess, and lots to debate I suppose. The largest reason I chose stick built was cost, followed closely by knowledge and experience. I have never built with logs and have a ton of experience with residential construction therefore I went with my comfort level. Even though I long for the beauty of a log cabin.

Transporting materials and easy access to several supply sources is another factor.

Consider upkeep and maintenance down the road. I suspect a log home requires more of each.
If it's a rec cabin that will be cold until you get there, lots take longer to "heat soak" this it takes longer to warm up the cabin for the weekend.

I build a stick built with 2X6 studs, the next year I covered the T-111 siding with half cut logs, 10" to start with, cut in half, easy and quick, now I have 11 inches of wood with insulation in the 2X6 studs. I put tongue and grove cedar siding inside. It looks like a log house, but I do not have the maintenance of shrinking logs around the windows, and I do not have to caulk the logs as the T-111 is inside the logs. To me it is the best of both worlds, well insulated and looks like a log house. Gerberman

This may be true but we have a recreational log cabin and it seems to heat up very quickly, even when it's sub zero out.

Lots of factors to consider. Location, use, size, etc.

If very remote and only seasonal log could make sense due to needing to haul less msterial into the site. Or you just flat out enjoy the asthetics of a log cabin and would like to go through the process of constructing one.
I would say the stick frame in general would be considerally quicker, more customizeable (siding, insulation, utilities, etc) and more efficient for the most part. All depends on what you want and what your porpose for the structure is. Do you have some specifics about the site and intended usage?

How do you figure 11" of wood? Sure, maybe at the very outside of the half log to the inside of the 2x6, but they are round right? How thick is the half round logs where they sit on top of each other? That's the amount of wood you have if you're thinking R-factor from wood....

Stick frame is cheaper, quicker easier to build, no settling issues to deal with, and a lot lighter. A log cabin has a more rustic Alaskan appeal, potentially more resale potential, and you don't have to sheet rock it. Those are some immediate pros of both I can think of off the top of my head. When I think of some more I'll let you know.

AHFC has a guide on log home construction: https://www.ahfc.us/download_file/676/674

I love that guide.

i build about 2 weeks a year on average. Log building built with logs from the site. At least 7 years so far and cannot be occupied yet. Truly a labor of love. If you have time and patience, build with logs. I think the sane choice however is stick building.

What is the maintenance on log buildings? It seems that some people use green logs, and they eventually dry out and then remain beautiful forever. And other people warn that you need to treat and seal your logs and reapply the treatment/sealant every year or two, or insects and mold will destroy your logs. Not sure what causes one or the other to be true.
