Well, the event was a tremendous hit...

I honestly didn't think it would turn out as well as it did. That was the most fun I have had on the river in a long time. What a truly great group of folks, every single one of them.

We started on Friday afternoon and a few of us made a quick trip on the river and messed around a bit for a few hours. We ended the evening with a camp fire and some good conversation.

Saturday morning was spent prepping for the BBQ. Lots of folks brought some great food and we had a quick raffle with some items that some businesses and forum members donated. LeonardC whipped up a great desert in his Dutch Oven. Then we piled everyone into the crew of boats and headed upriver to a sand bar about 45 minutes upstream. After a few photos we took a group of the boats out for some 'spirited' driving, which was a good time. Thank you Fozzy2 for taking one for the team and sticking your boat for a good photo opportunity :) . After getting back to camp we had another BBQ to finish off the leftovers from lunch. Thank you Fozzy2 for bringing over the grill and doing the cooking, it was pretty funny to watch/hear you dragging that thing down the road. Forum member Jason (I don't know his handle), brought some ribs cooked in a Dutch Oven that only lasted about 4 minutes. I heard that they were quite good, but I wouldn't know as I was too slow trying to get some. We finished up with another camp fire, a little birthday cake for C-bolt, and B.S.'d until way too late into the morning...

Sunday we took off down stream and did some hooligan dipping and relaxing on the gravel bar. Some did a bit of fishing on the Deshka, and Bobthefisher lived up to his name and managed to boat a nice King in the middle of the day :topjob:. A few of us spent a little time chasing around some pike too. Heading back upriver C-bolt provided us some comic relief by running out of fuel. Thank you RadFisher for making the run to Talkeetna to fetch some fuel for boat rescues, I still don't know how you made it there and back so quickly. In the evening, Bobthefisher brought over a nice chunk of the King he caught and BBQ'd it up for us for dinner. Jason, the other Dutch Oven master brought over some dessert and I made sure to get a piece of it before it was all gone. We finished up with burning just about all of the firewood donated and delivered by JKB, that sure made some nice fires...

The only casualty of the event was a new iPhone2 that was sent to the bottom of the river...JimW, hopefully the third time will be a charm for you getting a phone...lol

A big thank you is in order for a lot of folks for helping everything work out so well...

First, Thanks to this AOD forum, allowing us to organize here made things a breeze...

Thank You to Jeff at Susitna Landing for hosting the event...Your facility is perhaps the nicest I've ever seen up here...Jeff, you did a great job with the full house you had...You can bet that a lot of us will be back just to enjoy the place...

JonsBoat, thank you and your grandson (Tyler) for making the BBQ actually a BBQ by providing the BBQ's/charcoal/utensils/etc.. They made very nice raffle items as well. You put in a lot of effort with the donations, food, and prep to make things work out well...

LeonardC, thank you for all of your work too and donating the Leatherman for the raffle and making a fantastic cobbler for dessert

Thank you to all of the folks that brought boats and providing empty seats for all of the folks...Blue Thunder, C-Bolt, Bobthefisher, MTOutdoorsman, Fozzy2, OzAk, JimW, & 1875XA...it wouldn't have been an event without you guys...BlueThunder, word around the camp fire was that yours was the most comfortable and coolest sounding boat in the group...and JimW you were a close second :)

OzAK, Thank You for all of your work getting the raffle items, it was a nice touch to add to the BBQ...Thanks to your son (Jesse) as well for stepping up and being the grill master...All of the sport jet owners enjoyed ooh'ing and ahh'ing over all of your mods...nice work...

Thank you to the business and forum members that donated items for the raffle as well...

and the biggest Thank You to my wife, who worked her butt off trying to keep everything organized and going well....

I would like to collect all of the pictures and make some CD's for everyone...If you have any pictures I'd like to get copies, please PM me and I'll give you my mailing address....If you folks could send me a CD with the pics, I'll consolidate everyone's pictures and make a master CD and mail it back out to eveyone, then we'd all have a nice set of pics....

It would be neat if some good pics of the event were posted here too...

I can't think of any way the event could have gone better, great weather, great people, great time...

Huge thanks to Toshiro and his wife for keeping it organized and moving foreword.

Huge thanks to everybody who helped out with time, donations, and everything else.

Personal thanks to MToutdoorsman for the 6 gallons of 87 and T for giving my family a ride back to the landing.

Good times for sure and the weather couldn't have been better.

I wish I could have seen f0zzy on the rocks after he tried to follow me. Somebody put that up!

So does everybody like T's new sticker? Gotta be worth 2 mph...

I dig...We could start a pool and take bets to see how long it will last before the river rubs is off .. :)

I've got a few extra I can pass along, unless somebody else gets to you first. Where are you at here in AK?

I'm betting that sticker stays for about 5 more days, until your next adventure. Good luck on your ride.

Why turn when you can go straight?

Oz got some stuff in the pump, it eventually came out, thanks to some throttle coaxing.
