The guys at The Boat Shop did a nice job with the reverse video they posted...the link below is a video that takes a peek at the bucket a bit differently...

I'm pretty comfortable behind the camera, but in this vid you'll have to endure actually seeing me in front of the camera, so a word of caution, don't watch if you've just ate, I don't want you to lose your lunch... :)

If you make it through the intro and hang in there until the 2 minute mark, you'll see a couple sport jets perform what I think is the worlds slowest drag race....although it isn't exciting, it does illustrate just how much more thrust the new bucket has...

Here's the link...

TJM, on your video you show only yourself in the boat while using the stock bucket but with the new reverse bucket you have ~250lb guy sitting on the engine compartment along with your dog putting much more weight on the stern. Not a good comparison is it? When we were on the Knik, everyone had to step to the back to get the boat to come off the shore. The Boat shop test used two different boats in their test as well. I believe the wooly bucket boat had UHMW on the bottom. Not sure about the other boat. Would have been better if they used the same boat for each comparison.

Me personally I would think that the video shows how much better the new bucket is with having more weight in the boat. If it can back up that fast with that much more weight in it, it must be a bad ***** product. I don't see how anyone could argue that. Unless it's someone who just can't stand seeing another brand of boat improving on an already great platform. :topjob:

Wow, you finally saved up enough cereal box tops to get your inspector gadget secret decoder ring !!! ... and you didn't waste any time putting it to work did you? :)

I know you're not attempting to accuse me of being misleading or dishonest, so I have to assume you're just confused...perhaps I can clear it up a bit...

...only yourself in the boat while using the stock bucket but with the new reverse bucket you have ~250lb guy sitting on the engine compartment along with your dog putting much more weight on the stern. .

your powers of perception are amazing, but your powers of assumption are a bit off...

the first scene at 3:15 has the extra body in the middle of the boat and my dog right behind the driver...

the scene at 3:45 has the extra body in the back of the boat and my dog right behind the driver....

the scene at 5:02 has the extra body in the front of the boat and my dog right behind the driver...

can you see what we were 'testing' there? ...we were trying to see if the weight distribution had any affect on the reverse....we concluded that we didn't have enough weight in the boat to make any conclusions as it had no noticable affect with just shifting one guy around...

Not a good comparison is it?

actually, the comparison is quite good, especially at 2:15 when the 2 boats are side by side in reverse...but the best comparison will be the opinions of those that try it...

The Boat shop test used two different boats in their test as well. I believe the wooly bucket boat had UHMW on the bottom. Not sure about the other boat.

if you remember, I was the first one to call them out on it...it is important that no one is mislead....and quite frankly Mel, it is bullsh!!t for you to try to make it seem as if that is what is going on...

this isn't rocket science here, the reverse is improved dramatically....if you are interested, get some seat time in the SJ powered phantom, then borrow my bucket and see the difference, then make any comments/reviews you want...but until you feel the difference you really have no idea....

Our test boats at the Boat shop were identical boats, both with umhw. Thats why we used them.
If there was any disadvantage it was with the Wooly bucket as we had two peaple up front.
On the TJM video Wooldridge does not offer a uhmw bottom.
Even with slightly different boats it is to big a difference in performance to not see.
If you have a sportjet powered boat you know what your reverse is capable of.
Come by the shop and try a boat with the new bucket and make up your own mind.

Mike, I'm not knocking, just stating the obvious in the video and the personal observation that doesn't compare to how the boat shop's video showed how well the bucket worked compared to how it worked on the Knik. Different boats so maybe thats the reason. As I said before the bucket is a definite improvement. How it performs on a tunnel would be nice to see.

The other thing is maybe those that want to promote products on the forum should pony up as fund the site.

Wow, TJM I guess when you call them out it's "important not to mislead" but when someone else notes it would have been better to use the same boat boat in the test its somehow "Bullsh!!t" Maybe what's "Bullsh!!t is folks using the site to market as you do without being a sponsor. Madboater, who works at the Boat shop was kind enough at least to clearify that both had UHMW. IMHO it would still be beneficial for the viewer to see the test using each bucket on the SAME boat. It's a simple swap and doesn't take that much time. It just avoids any confusion, plan and simple. Go out make another video if that helps. I'll even help if you need it. You can then claim it was independently tested.:topjob: When you've completed your video you should follow the forum rules about marketing on the forum.

Wow!!! So now we can't talk about things that improve the handling of our boats? I know i'm new to jet boating but i'm not new to boating!!! I wish someone would have told me that the buckets on the sportjet are not very good for backing up. I know mine doesn't back up worth a sh*t. I kinda beleive its a saftey factor Mel... I wish you would have told me this before I bought the boat. Never herad nothing about it anywhere. I put in at Finger Lake in a little wind and had no control. It really sucked. I'm not sure I totally understand here, isn't a forum to tell folks about things that work better? Things that make things work better? Things that make your boats safer? you know, so you don't read about it in the paper, "Bob the fisher gets run over buy anohter boat as he could not bakc up to get out of the way" or something like that. I must be in the wrong forum here.

...you should follow the forum rules about marketing on the forum.

Here's the difference,....

you, "the dealer" joined the site and began to discuss your product...There was interest from the users here, myself included...when the discussion went from good information to a pushy sales pitch, users here said to you, "the dealer" to sponsor the site or return to just posting information...

Now take a look at all of the Wooldridge threads...they are posted by happy "Customers".................the "dealer" isn't on here pushing any product...the dealer has established excellent relationships with the customers, they are very happy and offer up information and opinions on their own accord....

you have a customer that posts on here too, unfortunately, his last post wan't too complimentary...I bet once you get rolling, your customers will post about their experiences...Heck, everyone loves build threads, why don't you do one on your current builds....you have to start building that relationship somewhere, once you do a good job, your customers will be your best marketers....you can't buy the kind of customer relationship/marketing that Wooldridge has built...

as far as my posts on the forum, I post information about everything that is of interest to me and what I feel would interest other users...it is no different than posting my opinions/review of snowmachines/atv's or fly fishing gear...go look at my post history, it is not just reviewing the boats....I did the same thing with my last boat, it wasn't a wooldridge, and I'll probably do it with my next boat too...

part of the value of this forum is for users to discuss product experiences, I get good infomation here, and I like to contribute as much as possible too....

I am willing to bet that Glen Wooldridge gets a big kick out of reading all of Halibutgrove's posts and wishes all his competition had a halibutgrove working for them.
