South Perry Island Oyster Farm Open!!

They opened this last weekend after being closed for maintenance this summer. They are open from 10 am to 6 pm every day. Hail them on 16 at the head of the bay to let them know what you want and have ready by the time you reach the barge. Here is tipping a shell up to eating the freshest oysters you will ever get!!

Anyone know if the oyster farm over in Eaglek Bay still operating?? Suzy sold oysters out of a blue trailer at the AK Fair, Portage Visitor Center and various spots around town. Unfortunately she passed away a few years back.

Dunno 'how' they're doing, except that I heard them on the radio a few days ago, so apparently they're alive and in attendance.

I'd like to know how to cook them properly. Ate cans of smoked oysters as a kid and loved them. I remember trying a raw oyster once but had a very hard time swallowing it. Kind of like a raw egg. If you have suggestions let me know, I love seafood, especially scallops and king crab so I'm willing to give it a try.

How ever you enjoy them. I am the same way withraw part, not my bag. But, I love them on the half shell, on the boat BBQ with some lemon and seasoning. They cook up nicely. Otherwise panko dipped and fried in Ghee.
