Should I use a transom saver? 40hp on 16' Lund

I've got a manual tilt/tiller 40hp Yamaha 2-stroke on a 16'Lund SSV.

Should I be using a transom saver for trailering? Or will the tilt lock suffice?

Any thoughts?

With all the frost heaves on Alaska roads I would not, unless you carry a lot of insurance.

For the sake of a few $$$$ a transom saver is a very good investment IMHO.

If possible always use a transom saver. Roads can be harder on boats than the water.
