Anyone know what the distance is that you can legeally shoot near a structure and where in the regs it is covered?

alot of people have asked this and i have looked in all the online regs and the blue book and it says nothing about structures for shooting the only distances from dwellings is for bear baiting but it doesnt say anything about firing a weapon. The only restrictions were cant be on from or across a driveable roadwat or from an ATV or snowmachine that is running in most scenarios there were a few exceptions to that one tho. And you cant shoot from a boat (in most cases refer to the blue book for the exception) and for archery you cant use those super awesome poision gas exploding arrows

I think you're incorrect on this. I think you can shoot from a boat anywhere, as long as it is not under power. In some cases you can even shoot/take game under power, as you suggested.

In alot of states in the lower 48 you have to be a certain distance from a structure (occupied by people) in order to discharge your weapon, Maryland I believe is 150 yards. I have not heard of any restrictions in Alaska though, except certain city ordnances in some places (like you cannot shoot near the dump etc.)

I think this issue might have come up before on the forum dealing with shooting bears near the Russian River and Skilak Loop Management Area.
See Pg76 of the current regs in the top left corner under the Skilak Loop Management section--talks about restricting any shooting within 1/4 mile of any "campground".
Also has a link to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge page:
http://kenai.fws.gov/regulations.htm which further clarifies and expands the restriction in my reading of the passage below:
"Hunting and Trapping
(i) Firearms may not be discharged within 1/4 mile of designated public campgrounds, trailheads, waysides, buildings, or the Sterling Highway from the east refuge boundary to the east junction of the Skilak Loop Road."
I think there might be this same type of restriction around campgrounds in other state and national parks/refuges through-out the state--especially if they have permanent structures/buildings at them like your question asked.
Better research the specific area/park's rules to be safe--oftentimes one set of regulations makes no mention at all of the restrictions in the other set of regs--if I am not mistaken that was one of the issues (besides the ethical debate) with the brown bear being shot off the Sterling Highway last fall in front of a bunch of onlookers--the state regs never mentioned the federal restriction. A good article on that incident and the necessity to know exactly where you are at and all the agencies that can establish rules for your hunt area can be found at this link:

Shooting black bears from boats is illegal in PWS.
There are very few instances where you can legally shoot from a boat, regardless of under power or not.
The most common one I can think of is waterfowl hunting.
Otherwise it is generally a no go sort of affair...

Shooting from a boat is restricted in GMU's 1-5 and 6D. Otherwise you may take game from a boat if the motor has been shut off and progress from the motor has ceased. There are a few exceptions, such as Caribou in 22 and 26, Wolves in 23. Probably best to check your hunt out before you go - but otherwise it's generally ok.
