Pack

What pack did you buy Snyd? My wife and I just bought Osprey's from Wiggy's and can't wait to put them to use!

I bought a Kelty 50th anniversary edition pack. I wanted 7000 cubes and a frame under 8 lbs under $200. It's hard to find a pack like that. This one is 7200 cubes. 6lbs 12 oz. It's kind of a morph between an internal and external frame pack. It has an hourglass shaped frame and the bag slips over it. The straps are hooked on to the bag though not the frame. It has the freedom and feel of an internal but like I said it has a frame. I have been training with it with 50lbs until yesterday I bumped it up to 70 so far so good. 6 more weeks until sheep hunting!! I'll do a full review on it in the gear section after I put to the stress test with 100lbs +.

Have you serious sheephunters been reading the progress reports of the 3 guys walking from Pt. Hope to Anaktuvik? They are doing the trip unaided, so are carrying everything on their backs. They are using custom made internal frame packs that weigh around 24 ounces, but will hold 50 pounds. Lots of hi teck lightweight stuff on this trip. You can read all about it at www.ryanjordan.com

Good post...

Good post...

and good link, Mike. Interesting story too.
I use a 3-4 pound pack, but its a tad too small. I like the weight of it, hence the decision to keep using it.
I am amazed at the amount of guys out there who use 8, 10 even 12 pound packs for sheep hunting.
