t_birder, thanks for joining us and most of all thanks for the great product you put out.

You guys are too kind. Grey, you sund like my mom!
I'll be lurking around out here and jump in and try to help when ever I can.
Oh and by the way, I'm also trying to get a new web site up and running. If any of you guys have a real good shot of your boat, or a little testimonial, or both, I'll get it to the web guys and see if they can get it on our site.
Thanks again for the kindness,
Clint

Sharkhide

If I was your mom I would tell you to bring home a can of that gold stuff you make everyday.

DO you make anything to get out the salted pits?

Hey there Gray,
Unfortunatly, there's no way to get the pit's out. You literally have to lower the surrounding material to match the depth of the pits. This can be done, but it requires a lot of grinding and sanding before you can even begin to polish and seal.
If your boat has a "Mill finish", or has the "off white" acid washed finish, then SHARKHIDE Metal Protectant (without all the grinding) will help camouflage the pitt's and make them all but impossible to see when the hull is viewed from any angle. But you may still barely be able see them if you look at the hull streight on at 90 degrees.
Good luck,
Clint

Alaska Grey,

I think the acid wash you are asking about is what I use. It is called
Zep-alume.

All you do is wet the boat down then spray an area of the boat. Let if foam for 20-30 seconds and rinse.

It does not bring the boat back to a factory shine, but it gives it an offwhite uniform color. Which at least looks better than nothing.

I really wish I would have used shakhide when my boat was new. It seems like I spend more time trying to polish my boat than fish out of it lol.

Web site says it costs $59.95 per quart. How much is it in Anchorage and how much does it take to do a 20 foot river boat?
