Anchorage Suzuki Arctic Cat sells it.
It is worth its weight in gold. I put it on before putting my new boat in any water. Less prep that way. Boat still looks like it pulled off the showroom floor!

LOVE IT. there is a shop by the airport that sells it or you can order it online. It goes for $70 gal. I used a gal on my 26ft. boat. Did 2 coats as recomended. Best advice is to put it on before your boat touches the ocean water.
I ran it all summer long and the aluminum never turned gray.

Yes, I meant Sharkhide and I want to do that with the new boat. I thought I read somewhere that you have to wash with a special cleaner and condition it with a special chemical and then do two coats. Sounds like a lot of work. Anyone ever take short-cuts? Any tricks to watch out for?

No, If it never touched the saltwater just wash it at home with boat soap or anything else. Let it dry then apply the first coat. I think 24 hours later you can apply the second coat.

If you have never been in the salt you are fine to just wash ans apply. The cleaner etches the aluminum and takes it to a dull look and then the polish takes it back to that brand new look. Then you apply the sharkhide. If you don't do it before your boat hits the water you have 10 times the work to do. I had to miss out on two or three oportunities to go fishing becuase my boat hadn't had sharkhide yet and it was raining outside so I couldn't do it. Bummer to have a new boat sitting in the drive and the rain not give up long enough in three weeks to apply the sharkhide.

Hewescraft and weldcraft do their boats at the factory. You can see the line where they stop on bottom of the boat under the bow. My 2006 Weldcraft still looks pretty good a few rub marks from the trailer and such. Going to re-apply in spring.

If I remember right Hewes does not sharhide there boats. I know Weldcraft does.
Where are the places to get your boat acid wash around Anchorage?

What if your boats already been in salt water, is it worth putting it on? How much of a pain would it be to get this stuff to work after it's been in the salt water? Wish I would have read this last year..... Before the boat touched salt water. Any insight or recomendations would help.

Once it been in the salt. You will get salt pits. Yeah you can clean/wash the boat real good, but these pits will still be there. Acid wash is the only way to go once it's been in the ocean. I did not apply th polish. I just put the sharhide on. It last about 3 years. On how much it coast to acid wash it I have no clue. You can acid wash it your self or pay someone to do it.
