My dad drew a tag out of Seward for Mountain Goats this fall. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to expect or see as far as weather, terrain, and animals goes?

Terrain - Yep. Steep. You will have lots.

Animals - Yep. Go up the Steep through the Weather and you will see some.

Which tag did he draw and when are you planning on going?

Play the weather with more focus than you play the goats. Really. Look for a 4 to 5-day high pressure forecast and blast in there, get it done, and get the heck out!

I drew 346 in 07 and hiked up 3,500' and setup camp in pure sunshine, then spent the next 3 days listening to goats move around us in the rocks, while it rained sideways and finally came down empty-handed. Returned 2 weeks later with my boat and hunted 2 days in the sunshine and packed out a nice goat.
