So couple questions for you guys. I'm wanting to do a sbr build. Planning on going the non trust route. First off can I use a lower I bought from a non FFL transaction? After I send in form 1 can I use the lower I'm registering as a pistol lower? Meaning as I wait for paperwork can I put a sbr upper on the stripped lower that I temporarily make into a pistol and when ATF signs off then put a buttstock on the lower? Or bad idea? Anybody in anchorage area do engraving that would qualify? (Depth of .003"). Last thing, after I send in paperwork I believe I can use the pending lower on a rifle length upper, correct?
If anybody knows of any dealers in town that sell sbr's let me know. I'm considering just ordering a le6933 or similar if I can find one.

Yes, you can use any lower to make an SBR. I do not believe you can convert a rifle to a pistol and use it as a pistol...it has to be a pistol lower as designated by the original manufacturer. Yes, you can still use the pending lower with a rifle length upper while you are waiting for your stamp to come back. You can contact Wild West Guns and talk to them...they even have an attorney they'll refer you to for creating your trust if that's the way you decide to go.
