Anyone out there have tried and true designs for a sauna made out of well seasoned white spruce? I have 10 - 14' logs, 6-10" diameter that have been stacked up off the ground for 5 years, waiting for this summer to have the time to get around to this project.

Wondering on specifics like:

Foundation materials and design
Floor materials and design
Floor layout
Stove, rock, water vessel recommendations
Etc.

What's worked for folks out there?

The best sauna book out there is "The Art Of Sauna Building" by Pertti Olavi Jalasjaa. While it does not deal directly with building with logs, it has much useful information on floor layout, bench design, plus general do's and don't's. I found them on Amazon for around $20. There has been a fair amount of discussion on this forum so a search will bring up la lot of good info. Good Luck on your project.

If you PM me your email address I can send you a PFD file that has some really good sauna design ideas. They are not for logs but you could incorporate the basic ideas into your log structure. My sauna at home is based on these plans and it has worked out great. Let me know.

we have a wood fired sauna and one design suggestion we incorporated was to have the stove door open out into the outer changing space and not into the sauna itself. that way you dont have any wood chips/splinters where they can do any serious damage.
