So i really want to hit the salt with the fly rod this year, ive been looking at some flies to tie and i stumbled across the Kinky Muddler Minnow and it gave me inspiration to try and tie it but with variations being i dont have the specific material used for that fly. I decided to use maribou and cross-cut rabbit strip a lil flash and red eyes, core of fly is lead. Im planning on tying these in blk/chart, white/red, blk/purple, blk/white, pink/white. heres a pic of what it looks like. enjoy!

I've tied something very similar in the past. It worked great for kings, chums, and silvers in the salt.

Looks good but whats the castability soaking wet? I bet your heading down the two hander road if your not there already. Nice cross wind and that flies gonna hurt!:upset:

I just tied a box for my Hawaii vacation about to start in two hours, clousers, gotchas, reef specials, etc and sounds like some of the AFF's members have had much luck on the gotcha series, in Alaska.

here is another one! extended the hook to eliminate the possibility of short srtikes. as for castablity of the ones posted below, not sure yet its about the same weight as your traditional dolly llama if not lighter. I think i have too much time on my hands......I need to go fishing!
