Has anyone fished the russian river from the campground down to the confluence of the Kenai lately. I was just wondering if there are any silvers to be caught down there. Any recent fishing reports would help.
I fished from the power line down to the ferry crossing on Sunday. We were fishing beads for rainbows/dollies, but did see a fair number of silvers. Most of them had quite a bit of color, but there were some chromers mixed in. Fishing was tough do to all the leaves in the water as well as the worst wind I have ever seen on the Russian itself. Sure beats working, though!
several of us fished the Russian Monday at it was full of leaves, higher than usual, low visibility, but still fishable. We hooked some smaller rainbows with egg imitation flies. (12 to 14 inchers). We had a close encounter with a large cottonwood broken off and the whole thing slammed to the ground 70 feet from us, maybe 1/2 a second between the 50mph gust of wind breaking the base of it and it hitting the ground. We also saw a Lynx on the road. You are right, better that working.
