So this year my goal is to go a little lighter, and a little more functional on my cat. I am taking out my wood floor and getting a stitches and stuff cam strap floor, and hoping to change out a couple of accessories and wanted some advice.

Rod holders: As of right now I have plastic rocket launchers mounted to my frame that often get broken with rambunctious people or gear. I would like to make my own out of regular aluminum raft tubing, but am trying to come up with a good looking way to mount them onto the frame. My initial thought was to drill two carriage bolts from the inside of the tubing out the back to bolt onto a tube clamp backer on the other side of the frame tube. Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Second, I have the padded swivel chairs, that often get water logged, and are fairly heavy in themselves. Any other ideas out there that maintain comfort while cutting down a little bit of weight?

Thanks in advance!

I just use the same nrs fitting that fits my frame pipe and about a 10-12" section of scrap pipe. I used red plasti-dipped on the rod end of the pipe so they kinda stand out/dont chew up rods. I wont leave them unattended to fish, and they have to sit holding the rod a little higher than most (pointed more verticle), but they get them out of the way while boating and a place to set them down to grab another beer I also drilled a 2 holes for a little strap system, but I've never needed them.

Yeah those work good, only problem there is shelling out the 40 bucks for the parts! Plus I am trying to come up with something good for fly rods. I have thought about doing that same thing, and just cutting the front of the aluminum out and add a strap to the top so it works with both types of rods..... work in progress I guess. I have a few plastic rod holders I've been taking the dremel to to find a solution. If I come up with anything ground breaking I'll post it.

My rocket launchers with wood backer and a u-bolt worked ok, but not exactly what I need.
