Reloading 300wsm & 325wsm

There is some truth to the whole don't go over 180 gr's on the 300 wsm but it doesn't mean that it won't work. I have a winchester model 70 that I handload 200 gr accubonds (which are pretty long bullets) at 2,825 fps with IMR7828 powder. Not a huge diference from the 300 win mag. But the 220 gr bullets might be a problem thoughe. I have never tried loading the 220's as of yet.

I load 180 Interbonds in my 300 wsm and get 3000 + vel with excellent accuracy. When the 325 first came out I caught my interest with the factory velocities of the 180 and 200 grn bullets. I was already getting velocities out of my 300 wsm that the 325 factory loads were being advertised at. So I bought a box of 200 grn accubonds just to see if I could get a load to produce. I was able to get 2930 as an average with 1" accuracy. I use RL-19 powder and stayed with my 300 wsm.

I've been looking the ballistics over between the 300wsm and the 325wsm, I'm going to buy one just haven't quite decided. I tend to think along the lines of Muledeer. I think you can push a 200 gr 300wsm pretty close to that of the 325wsm, close enough that I think I'll lean toward the 300wsm. I think that would be good enough on moose, caribou and even the brown bears.
