Questions about Polaris Sportsman X2 4x4

I have done some reading about the X2,but I still have some questions. Does the added weight and length cause problems in deep mud? Are they noticeably more stable going up steep inclines and less likely to flip over backwards? BTW, I have been riding a Sportman 500 HO for years.

I have one and I love it my buddy rides it more than me and he has gone up some pretty steep hills! The longer WB helps with that. It is a tough machine and it keeps on going it is an 08 and has close to 1900 miles on it!

Used to own a 2006 500 HO X2 before I upgraded to a Ranger 6X6 and I loved it. The longer wheel base is more of a help than hinderance in my experience. I also loved the bed rather than rear rack that regular atv's come with. I did not find that the added weight was an issue and I went everywhere my buddies on their "lighter" wheelers went. But I did notice that the longer wheelbase was more stable. Also, the suspension is stiffer so you really stick to the trail versus normal squishiness of a regular Sportsman suspension. Not to hijack your thread but I always wished that Polaris would take the X2 convertible bed/2up seat and put that idea on the Sportsman 6X6.

I used to ride with 1S1K before he sold it. It towed me back to moose camp and is definately more stable on the hills, and the added weight/length never seemed to be a hindrance. It was sprung stiffer in the rear and that was noticeable when riding empty, but not enough different to care. Bed was pretty cool for grilling on too.

Thanks for the info,sounds like what I need. My wife and I have been getting around on my Sportsman pretty well, but the x2 sounds better for our use. Anyone else have any pros or cons let me know. Thanks

I have 1600 miles on my '08 700 X2 (900 miles on tires, 700 miles on tracks). Great machine for all around use and I'll gaurentee you that once you ride two up on one you'll never go back to the shorter WB Sportsman. The longer WB and stiffer springs make a world of difference.

A bit of advice; 1) If you're gonna run tracks the 500 is really on the weak side. 2)Only use the ADC when you're going down a STEEP hill. My X2 blew the front diff. at about 1100 miles. Junked out the internal parts. Polaris warrenteed it (extended). Just be aware. Other than that my machine has been great.
