Question on finishes to put over stainless steel rifle

OK a friend picked me up a used ruger Hawkeye Alaskan in 375 Ruger and I would like some opinions on finishes. I know it has a matte finish already but I would prefer it to be black. I can do duracoat but seem to be having trouble getting it in Alaska. Is there a way to get places to ship it up here or would I need a big order before they will ship it to us up here. I have a rifle that has been cerrakoted and I really like it and it seems really durable but I dont have the ability to bake on finishes to harden them. I was thinking about trying to go to Sherwin Williams or equivalent and see if they carry Polane-T. I think thats the same stuff as duracoat from what I have read anyway. Basically I would like to get something I can apply myself at home and something durable. I know some guys just degrease a matte stainless gun and hit it with ceramic header type paints or krylon but I dont think they will hold up at all. Anyhow could someone give me a helping hand in the right direction. Should I just leave it as is and not worry with a spray on finish?

Kyle has done 3 stainless guns for me with duracoat and they turned out great. I love stainless but don't like the look.

Great thanks alot guys I like stainless too but I dont like the way it looks on a rifle. I like it on my revolvers and 1911 but not on a hunting rifle. I will give them a call when I get home in a month or so. Thanks alot guys.
