Anyone been out of Whittier in the last week or so? How's the snow line looking? We are heading out Wednesday morning and just thought I'd check to see what's happening out there.

Thanks

We were down at Unakwik the last three days...snow still 6 ~ 8 feet deep. I wouldn't plan on doing any hunting for awhile.

One bear guide out of Valdez went out last weekend. They had to snowshoe in to get to any bears. Remember Cordova had record snow too this year whereas they usually get rain.

Just had a Bobcat dig my boat out and the snow was still over his cab in my yard, about 5-6 feet deep.

Snow is still 5-6 feet deep above tideline... The further out you go, the less there is. Theres a couple pics in the fishing section on a thread called "whittier tomorrow" that will show what it was like last weekend.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. Looks like we may have to just slay some yellow-eye and rockfish then.

Hmmm, I will be shore camping in two weekends. "our" camp spot is not too far from the water, elevated - we'll be taking snowshoes for everyone I guess....and lots of firewood.

It's a miserable life we live! Tell the Sound to surrender the booty.

Your right! I've been married over 20 years and she's just starting to realize the pain I go through. All those years she thought it was fun putting meat on the table. Oh well, I'll keep her around anyway.
