Ok Here is the deal..... I am military and have been here for a year and a half. This past year I thought I had a buddy to go hunting with and he left me and my family in the dog house. We spent all the money we had saved...and then some... to go hunting for moose/caribou this last year. I helped my "so called buddy" gut, quarter, pack bone out, butcher and freezer wrap his moose, then he left me high and dry. He just wanted a pack mule and back up. So this year, if i don't have to deploy I want a reliable person to have my back and I will have theirs. I spent over 2000.00 and wasted 36 days of leave FOR NOTHING last year. I can't do that this year, I have to get something gargantuan this time or at a minimum meat for the freezer. I am also looking for a good place to bear bait. I have the equipment as far as barrels and stuff but need a good spot to put it. My wife is also for the first time in her life wanting to shoot an animal but mostly a bear. If anyone out there is willing to help out I would appreciate it. I am not a mooch and I am more that willing to pay for my end of the hunt. We may be out of here October-ish of 2012 depending on if they fix my military orders. Thus meaning I have this hunting season and MAYBE next year left. Thank you very much.

Where are you Wainwright or Richardson? I did the same thing last year Helped out on 3 moose hunts helped packing and skinning then processing then when it was my turn ended up going out solo and had to do mine all on my own.

I may be interested in putting some kind of moose trip together but don't have a lot to spend as I've already got a sheep trip planned for early August.

If you are stationed in Fairbanks, you can let me know and I will be happy to let you hunt off my bear stand or help put one up for you and your wife. I will register it and bait it and let you and your wife hunt it. If not I hope all works out for you and you finally get your hunt.

I am at elmendorf. I want to get a mounting size bull if possible. I would like to do a fly in to a good spot, possibly a float hunt but all of the ones I have found are 2500 per person and I don't know if I will have that much money to spend. Looking for something a little less expensive. I may take a trip up the hall road for caribou as well.

Not sure how many people would want to commit to a hunt with the possibility of you leaving then "High and Dry" as you put it, because you ended up deployed.

Hey, did you already talk to MDHunter yet? He was discussing such a trip. And its a trophy hunt type of thing. I just don't have the cash to do that kind of hunt and I'm primarily a meat hunter anyway. If its legal and will fill the freezer, I'll shoot it.

Actually I'm a meat hunter too, but being a non-resident requires me to only shoot trophy-size bulls in many parts of the state.

Bullmaster - I've got a thread on the hunting page looking for a hunt partner, shoot me a PM if you have any interest.

Sorry I don't know what PM is? Do you know about how much it costs for something like this? Trying to get an idea so I know what I'm getting into. Thanks.

Oops - you need at least 50 posts to have PM (private message) capability. How about shooting me an email at [email protected], and I'll send you some logistical info.
