Okay, so I'll be one of the first to do this. I know, asking about someone's spot is not cool. But I drew caribou in 20A, and though I have a planned location, I'd love to hear others. I don't have a 4-wheeler. Any suggestions would be appreciated. From what I've seen, there are some hawgs if you're in the right area.....
Oh, and for those of you who already hate me, I drew one of the archery bear permits on the haul road. Honestly this is the first time I've ever drawn this much, and the ONLY other tag I've drawn is Kodiak bear. EVER. So if anyone has advice on the bears up north, that'd be good too. I've been there, but any "the bears hang here" advice would be good. I did see bears there, but alas no permit...
Thanks

Well Salmo, noticed this is your first post, welcome to the forum.

I thought it was funny you were asking caribou and bear locations/advice from potential haters...too funny. Thats one way of trying to get advice, might just work!

I've been hunting for almost 30 years now, and I used to complain about not getting drawn. One memorable year, I put in for ewe sheep (in my home state of MT) and with 33 applicants for 30 tags, I was one of the three. I never drew any of the good tags. Now in two years, I've drawn 3 good tags. Peaks and valleys, I guess. Not that I'd protest if I drew every year, but the long droughts make the successes that much better!
I've never been one to share hunting spots. I feel like these drawing areas are different though. If I can't hunt there at all, I'm not shooting myself in the foot by helping someone else out. I guess I'd hope for the same from others. But rest assured, when it comes to open areas, I'm as tight lipped as the next guy. Any info is always appreciated.
And I wouldn't call it reverse psycology. I prefer 'Jedi mind tricks':)

For the haul rd bear, just drive until you spot one or talk to people on the road. When I got drawn that is what I did. I also spotted allot of bears by the river but they all had cubs.

thanks for the info alaska gray. Did you get a bear? I kind of planned on doing exactly what you advised. Are they stalkable once you get out past Galbreth? Seems awfully flat. And when did you go? I know it's gotten very crowded the last couple of years. I'm thinking mid-sept for 8 days. I also may take a jaunt over into some of the valleys east and west of atigan. Who knows, could find a sheep or some 'bou....
