I hope you get this in time....

I hope you get this in time....

I was out at Fish Creek Lake last week, and the whole lake had some degree of overflow. Anywhere between 6" to 1.5'. The guy at the lodge has groomed the two strips out. I don't know about the northern strip, but the southern one has some overflow.

Got Stuck on the 27th

Got Stuck on the 27th

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I landed a 206 (straight skis) on the strip on Upper Fish Lake last Sunday and broke through into the overflow when I slowed down. It took me about an hour and a half of digging and pushing to get it turned around. Skis were underwater by that time. I packed ramps with snowshoes to get back on top with power, and was very fortunate to get out. Of course, it's been almost a week, and it's cooled off a lot since then, so hopefully it's frozen back up. I'm a little gun shy at this point. I hope to see other planes on the lake the next time I go out. You might try contacting some of the lodges out there. They might be able to give you a more current report. I highly recommend recovery gear (shovel, snowshoes, ropes, winch, auger, saw, etc.) Good luck, and be careful.

Overflow....

Overflow....

seems to be non-existent now. Just got back from 3 days up there, and everything is A O.K. We ran all over the place on the sleds and didn't see any overflow anywhere.

It's been another warm week. Anybody have current information on condition of Lake Creek / Skwentna area ski strips?

Good to go!

Good to go!

Landed on Upper Fish Lake today. Strip is frozen and well-groomed with no overflow. No problem taxiing off the strip in the powder either. Temp right around zero. CAVU with sun shining on Denali. Get out and enjoy it!
