Looks like the red fishing should be good I just got off the mountain and see the kenai is over escaped again and they’ve had a few thousand up in the last week.
It is a bunch of BS to put it nicely. Go look for some reds and report back, all my friends and f&g biologist say it is pinks, when I left the river on Aug. 12 the river was choked full of pinks. They are moving up river and the "sockeye counter" is so far off it is really a big joke.
Took my family and fished the river at Soldotna over the weekend. We caught a lot of fish -- at least 90% were pinks. We did catch 12 reds on Saturday and 4 reds on Sunday (we left at noon). About 1/2 the reds we caught were fresh, while the other 1/2 were a little blushed.
Was a great weekend -- weather was great (though a bit hot), kids caught fish -- couldn't ask for more.
