Looks very similar to my old leupold straight 30X. Looks just about perfect and would go well with a Gitzo Traveler.

Man, I know guys. It's really killin' me.
I'm just trying to think of a slick way of telling the wife about this new 'necessity.'
She saw me jumping around when she saw I drew Kodiak goat, and she congratulated me; I almost ambushed her right then.

Forest, I liken the dialyt to my trust little Nikon XL II. Just a bit bigger and with the world class glass and adjustments.

Would be a darn shame to "misplace that Nikon" and have to get a new scope to replace it for your goat hunt. :)

I would like to compare this to my Minox ED62W, if anybody gets one and wants to compare, please let me know.

Found some excellent blogging about this scope here:

Some of it gets a bit technical, but overall pretty informative.

Biggest nock is that this Zeiss doesn't have the FL glass. Personally, I think for the ruggedness and great price I can live without it. It sure looks like Zeiss built this sucker exclusively for the mountain hunter.

Last post says that they are now in at Cameraland.
I imagine Doug will post eventually...but with thirty (?) forums to post on... <grin> Dunno how he keeps up.

Absolutely, Steve. Scraping a few bucks together and just about ready to make the call.
Looks like you'll be the first to post a review. :D

Saw your Pentax listed....great glass in its own right. Great deal too!

Will do Sir, should be here this week.

Nice Steve, maybe this summer we can hit a couple training hikes together and compare that new Zeiss side by side with my Pentax PF65 EDA II with the WO Zoom I have on it. I bet that's gonna be one nice spotter.

Sounds like a plan, as you know the Pentax is an awesome spotter. I have the same one you do, the only reason I got the new Zeiss was because it is waterproof and the guy that bought my rifle needed to put some of the cost on a credit card. I'm a gear junky and I admit it.

I think you are beyond the 12 steps program, Steve. But at least there is no denial. :)

Looking forward to the side by side. Perry, you don't know how many times I deliberated on a new 65ed due to your recommendations...

The Pentax scope body and eyepiece are waterproof as well, just not when you hook em together.... you're just a gear junkie! The William Optics Zoom I have is not waterproof but so far so good. Now.... I could use that excuse to buy a new Zeiss :D

I have compared the WO Zoom side by side with AKCubs Pentax with the Pentax Zoom and the WO was a little brighter. Not that the Pentax was dim, it was more like looking through sunglasses where as the WO was like not wearing sunglasses but still did not have glare. Resolution was comparable until 50-60X with the Pentax zoom. The WO Zoom takes the Pentax to 52X with excellent resolution, if I can keep the scope stable!

With Ziess glass and their coatings I bet the resolution will be superb and very very bright. What are the eye relief specs? ER is an issue for me.
