O.K. - I'm getting established here on the new Forum setup. We found this fish washed up on the beach while looking for bears and blue grouse in May here is S.E. Alaska. I know what it is now, but had no clue when we found it. Go ahead and try to figure out what this one is.

Looks like a ragfish to me.

Now, do I win the rifle in the photo??? ;)

You got it right Sketch.

No, you ain't getting "Chester." I've had this rifle for **** near 30 years now. My first big game rifle. It's a M70 that started life as a 300 Winne. It's a 375 Taylor (.375-338) now. That rifle had walked many a mile with me and could tell quite a few stories.

Ragfish, and have you heard of the brandname "rifle holster"? They sell them at Sportsmens warehouse, and they ROCK. Mainly just a belt that has a piece of line w/snaps. This goes around the stock of the rifle which holds in right in the center of your back. It has a tag end hanging off that you pull to quick-release the rifle. Really makes carrying a rifle a lot easier (safer too)
