Hahaha ....believe me I'm trying! Tonight we are sleeping in Missoula, Montana and will drive to Bellingham tomorrow. We will spend a couple of days there before taking the ferry on Friday to Haines. We saw a lot of antelope and (dead) mule deer in Wyoming. In Montana we saw no wildlife but the scenery was breathtaking. We are getting closer to our new home! Keep the snow at bay just a few more days for us. Thank you!

Getting ready to take the ferry today. Having never been on such a ship, I'm not sure how much motion sickness will factor into this. Any thoughts? :think:

It could happen, make sure you have some sea sickness meds available and take it before it happens.

Too late on the snow it came yesterday. Though it is melting back off this morning.
As for the sea sickness we use Dramamine in the less drowsy formula. Take it at least an hour before you get on the boat.

As much as it rained last night I'm surprised there's still snow on the ground this morn.

Oh and there is a ginger drink out now for motion sickness that is supposed to be good. I used to take ginger capsules when I knew we were going to do some crazy flying in the cub when I was guiding. They did well for me....

Update on our travel to Alaska. The ferry was a terrific experience other than , yes I got sea sick. I took Dramamine when we hit 8 foot swells, but it made me so drowsy, between the rocking vessel and being basically stoned I walked like I had the blind staggers. LOL My wife found it hysterical and I was glad for the opportunity to amuse her. We met some really nice people on the ferry from different areas on the Kenai peninsula. We stayed in Haines for the night then made a drive through some of the scariest sloppy, slushy roads across the moutons to Tok. Saw a bunch of Dall sheep and one massive big brown bear (grizzly?) who was only 75 to a 100yards from the side of the road as we crawled by in the Rav. It blew my mind how big that bear was and Ill be seeing him in my sleep tonight I'm sure. Off to Anchorage tomorrow.

Sounds like a trip to remember for sure! Drive safe. That road can bite you quick if you're not paying full attention on the rest of your trip. Enjoy it.

Sounds like you made it through the worst of it. Turnagain Pass can have snow when it's raining in Anchorage, but looking at the forecast you should be GTG all the way to Soldotna. Have a safe drive! I know I find the stretch between Gunsite Mountain and Sutton can be tricky when you're driving all day and tired.

So we finally made it here. Wow...what the heck was that mountain side switchback before Anchorage? It was 35 miles an hour, two narrow lanes, way up high on the mountain. When I first looked over to my left and saw the very same road I was on directly across from me on the other side of the drop off it blew my mind. It looked to be several hundred feet down. It was nerve wrecking!!!! In any event, thank you all for the words of encouragement and advice along the way. They were most helpful! Time to start settling down and in now.

PS. For the record; I actually arrived yesterday and tried to submit this post but for some reason it did not work.

Congrats on the safe trip and welcome to the peninsula. Oh. And that "BAD" chunk of road? All the highways up here were like that not very long ago. The drive from anchorage to the peninsula would give you serious white knuckles if that drive got your blood pumping!

First week here and I'm learning. Moose like to sleep a couple times a week in front of our front window all night long. And, for such a large animal can walk amazingly quiet enough to sneak up on you (me). lol Another thing we have learned is that we really like Fred Meyers!!! A good first week here.

Just be sure to keep a wary eye out when you approach your vehicle in the dark in your driveway. I got chased a few laps around my pickup one morning by a bull I didn't see when I went out to get the paper. Truck was locked so I couldn't even jump in it. LOL. I was wearing slippers, flannel pajama bottoms, and a t shirt. Took about 5 minutes of maneuvering to finally get where I could make a break for the front door. It was mighty cold out.
