Just picked up a 1895XLR 45-70 and am planning to add a big loop. A buddy has a WWG made big loop on his, but the finish is off - more of a matte finish, rather than matching the receiver. Would like the upgrade to match as much as possible, but if there's evidence the fit and function of the WWG loop is an improvement over the Marlin OEM one I could be swayed.

Also thinking of getting the WWG winged sights as well - not sure whether to go the stainless or blued/black route on this one...

Thoughts?

As for as the loop goes, WWG has a larger loop than the factory large loop.
Just depends on what you want. Also DCR makes a large loop.
I think they would all function the same.
I have a xlr and a sbl, the xlr lever could be a bit larger.
PM sent.

My GBL 45-70 had the Marlin large loop for a short time before WWG did their Alaskan Guide package magic to it. I prefer the WWG loop because the edges are smoother and its a tad more ergonomic with gloves on.

this is my guide gun with wwg's big loop lever. also installed the excellent trigger and "bearproof" ejector. i have read about the loop being handy with gloves on, but rarely do i ever shoot with gloves. the big loop changes the lever throw angle, and for this carbine i like it.
this is one of three elk taken with this rifle......it will always be a favorite with me.
