I just picked up a Magnum Research .22 Mag. Tried to mount a Leupold VX3 2.5-8 with low rings and objective bell in hitting the rail. If I slide it forward; eye relief is off and power ring hits rail. Solutions would be taller rings or a longer scope. Have you encountered this problem and what did you do? Thanks in advance.

I can't say I have any experience with the rifle in question, but it seems to me you know the two possible solutions. Since a new set of rings is cheaper than a new scope, I think that is the way I'd go.

Although a VX3 sounds like an awful nice scope for a .22, so maybe you should get a new (cheaper) scope for the .22 and a new rifle for the VX3.

I'm done with cheaper when it comes to optics.
I do have a rifle the VX3 can sit on. But you are right; medium rings are the next step.
