Recently PCS'd back up to Alaska from Fort Lewis after returning from my last deployment. After getting here I found out we will be gone for a month for predeployment training mid to late summer (cutting out the good times to get a nice blackie) and will also be leaving for 12+ months the end of this year. I am looking to team up with a local to show me the ropes (I will be glad to supply $ or supplies for the barrel + other expenses) as I would love to get my chance at a black bear with a experienced local hunter so I can learn some new tricks of the trade. I am currently looking for a quad to make my travels a lot easier but until I purchase one I will be hoofin it (not that big of a deal but will make for a interesting trip out of the bush for sure). A little info about me I am 28, Service member for 8 years am very safe (you wont have to worry about being shot in the ass as I take hunting and weapon safety very serious). I just want to learn the area and how to properly set up a station and such before I go register my own and break any rules.

If you are interested in a tag along I would be grateful that a local would be willing to assist me and take me under his/her wing so to speak and show me the ropes.

Feel free to PM or shoot me a email [email protected] if this is something you would be interested in.

Thanks again guys and I am looking forward to seeing the photos of the hunts this year.

Not a whole lot but heading to area 14 tomorrow to start searching for a place to bait this spring. I have been studying the maps and think I might have found a spot that will make walking in a bit easier after breaking into the initial bush.
