I recently watched a few of the "Hunting the Canadian Wilderness" DVDs and a few of the guides were wearing a wool pullover that looked to be a cross between a pullover type jacket w/ a long backside "tail" and a shawl. Has anyone seen these and know of an online source for ordering?

I'm not sure if this product is for the hunting market or maybe the equestrian market?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

wool parka

wool parka

I haven't seen the dvd but It's probably of a native/ metis design. they're usually made from wool blankets and are quite easy to make. Perhaps a tailor could make you one? I have seen them for sale but don't remember where exactly perhaps you can search it also. The long tail is so when you bend over you don't get a shot of cold air up your back and also to keep your butt from getting cold if you have to sit, also they usually have hood. good luck

try this

try www.nwtrader.com, check out their blanket shirt. If for hunting I would go with the old style whitney blanket thats black and green striped for some camo effect. I had this blanket and it is thick and warm!!

Swanndri ...

Swanndri ...

I almost forgot about this thread ...

I emailed Bart Lancaster and his wife was kind enough to reply with the information since Bart was out guiding.

The jacket brand is Swanndri and you can order it off the internet. They are a NewZealand based company.

The link is http://www.swanndri.co.nz/default.aspx?T=2&P=4

The item I was searching for is the "Original BushShirt".

Looks to be about $150 US + shipping.

Sounds like a Christmas present ...
